Best of Long Island Winners:

These Long Island Entrepreneurs Meetup Group members have been chosen the BEST OF LONG ISLAND for 2011 by Long Island Press:

Debbie Viola – Best Artist –

While the internet has made a way for local and independent musicians to get exposure, it can be hard to find out who the great visual artists are in your area. It still comes down to word of mouth, and you have spoken your verdict on the Best Artist/Painter on Long Island. We bring you this year’s winners for Best Artist/Painter on Long Island.

Gail Adams (1st place) – Best Dating Service –

There’s a lid for every pot and 7-in-Heaven gets right down to business when it comes to matchmaking. There is no bar scene, just upscale restaurants and cozy corners. They keep it intimate, and most importantly, they keep it classy. Events are held by age group, so whether you are 32 or 69, not a problem. Don’t have the time for a date? Well, 7-in-Heaven speed dating lets you have multiple dates in one night. They’ll even pay for your first drink. Just bring yourself. Finding true love doesn’t get much easier than that.

Jay Rosenzweig (3rd place) – Best Dating Services –

Optician Arthur Singer – Best Optician –

The eyes are the windows to the soul, that’s why it’s so important to have great frames. At Optic Masters, great frames are as frequent as the customers that walk through their doors—and that’s a lot. Yeah, we know great frames can be pricey, but that’s where Optic Masters stands out from the bunch. Like they say, “The best eyewear doesn’t have to cost more!”

Mark Siegel – Best Hypnotherapist –

Quitting smoking is popular New Year’s resolution, but rarely is it a successful one. Hypnosis has been proven to be very helpful to smokers trying to stop. At Hypnosis Inc., hypnotherapists use the most-effective process available today and say they can stop smoking in just one hour—with an astonishing success rate of greater than 95 percent. But Hypnosis Inc. doesn’t just help with smoking, they offer a huge range of therapy treatments that are safe and effective.

Teresa Ward – Best Cleaning Service –

Let’s face it, everyone loves a clean house or office but no one really likes to clean. Teresa Ward does. Since 1993, she and the professional staff at Teresa’s Family Cleaning have been spotlessly cleaning Long Island’s homes and businesses, washing their windows, carpet and upholstery, as well as washing their laundry. Teresa is also well known throughout LI as one of the founders of Cleanup for a Reason, offering free housecleaning to women undergoing cancer treatment.

David Gussin (2nd place) – LI’s Best Website –

Bruce Chamoff (3rd place) – Best Computer Services –

Nina Malik -Best Holistic Vet –

Dr. Nina Malik of Long Island Veterinary takes the top spot for the second year in a row. Malik practices integrative medicine, a mixture of holistic/Eastern and Western medicine, and focuses on acupuncture. Malik was also trained and certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She weaves advanced Western therapies with the ancient healing art of acupuncture to provide her furry patients with first-rate care. She works closely with your regular vet to make sure your animal receives the best medical care possible.

One response to “Best of Long Island Winners:

  1. No need to revisit past discussions about this “contest” being a popularity contest, however I am curious to hear others views on how the contest rules were completely changed this year.

In the past, this “contest” was a little more fair. Let me explain. Prior years each person could cast one vote (based on IP address) and the one who had the most votes wins.

This year they changed the rules . Each person could vote one time per day for as many days as the contest ran.

    The result?
A single person voting 30 days in a row means more than 25 different people each voting one time. Talk about the possibility of manipulation. Long Island readers are being mislead and actually believing the companies listed are the “best.” The best companies were not selected based on hundreds or thousands of people voting for a company , but could be the result of 2 or 3 people logging in once a day and voting for the same company.

I am actually one of the winners, so I am not writing to you for being a sore loser. I just think the public is being completely mislead and that they should not make any decisions about the quality of a Long Island company based on this contest.
