Feel this worth passing along. With the holidays coming up, I can see where this could be a real problem.
The newest virus circulating is the UPS/Fed Ex/USPS Delivery Failure. You will receive an e-mail from UPS,Fed Ex, or USPS along with a packet number. It will say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on such-and-such a date. It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached. DON’T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS! Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This virus has caused Millions of dollars in damage in the past few days.
Snopes confirms that it is real.
Timely and on point, Yvonne. Social engineering and email scams are a hot topic. Just last week I rcd an email saying my electronic payroll tax payment was rejected. There are very real looking emails from Citi, the USPS and others that are tricking people daily… the other day one of my friends gave a scammer his birthday and email password because the email from hotmail asking to ‘verify’ his account looked so real. Read more here and stay careful, if it seems to good to be true it is, if its from a govt office or bank realize they don’t usually communicate via email asking for things, they may use email to inform but they will never ask for passwords and other personal information.
